Bethesda Landmark Rebrands: Decades-Old Convenience Store Joins SPAR Network

A long‑established convenience store in Bethesda has officially converted from Londis to SPAR after joining A.F. Blakemore through the BTP+ programme, becoming the latest independent retailer to transition to the SPAR brand.

The family‑run business, which has served the local community from the same site for decades, has relaunched under the SPAR fascia following a comprehensive store refresh.  Customers can now benefit from an expanded fresh and ambient range, an improved hot and cold food-to-go offer, the introduction of SPAR own label products and the installation of a new beer cave.

Miar Evans, Owner, said:

“The store’s recent conversion from Londis to SPAR marks a significant milestone in its development as a modern convenience retailer. By joining the SPAR symbol group, we have gained access to a market‑leading supply chain, promotional programmes and a recognised brand trusted by shoppers across the UK.

The support from A.F. Blakemore, particularly from New Business Team was outstanding. They went above and beyond to ensure a smooth transition and made sure every detail was acted upon.”

The successful transition highlights the strength of A.F. Blakemore’s BTP+ programme, which offers independents a flexible partnership model, commercial support and the tools needed to drive long‑term growth.
